However, once the trial expires the program will revert back to the free version which can still clean and remove an infection after the fact but it will no longer actively block and prevent the attack in the first place.

Since there is no real-time protection with Malwarebytes Free I've noticed that just now, with Malwarebytes not being open after a repair, the Avast web alert for that blacklisted site is intermittent with it popping up or not.
