WEBJul 24, 2018. #1. I have a surface pro 4 i5 4GB that has all the latest updates. When I "shutdown" from the menu, I find the battery still drains over night (5-10%). I mainly use a work laptop so I only occasionally use my surface. So after a few days of non use, I sometimes find it completely dead.

WEBJan 24, 2016 · I can definitely say that as expected doing a full reset/refresh does NOT reset or clear the bios password. However it did reset the TPM. I still have the receipt for the surface and it's still in warranty with ms. Maybe I will call them and say it took a dump and won't boot (corrupt bcd/mbr record) Thus them hopefully replacing the whole thing.

Hold the power button and do a full power off, and the battery is good for months. If you enable HIBERNATE mode in the power settings, you may be happier. I use it on my portable machines. You set a timer, say 1 hour.
