WEBMay 8, 2024 · Mind, comparing M1 iPad Air (8GB RAM) and M1 iPad Pro (16GB RAM), it’s interesting to see that the Air was getting more stutters than the Pro. Gamers already know VRAM is pretty important. It would be interesting to see how that plays out given the shared memory architecture on the M-series chipsets.

WEBMar 18, 2022 · Just set up my M1 iPad Air (64GB Wi-Fi blue). This will be secondary to the current 12.9" M1 iPad Pro mainly used for business/work. I wanted something smaller/lighter for more casual use and a primary "reading" device, so being used as such, I don't think I'll miss the features from the Pro too much.

And the iPad Air 4 has a slightly bigger battery than the Pro 11" too. In a series of mixed usage tests at 50% brightness, the M1 iPad Pro got around 12 hours of battery life ...

Just today it drain from 50% to 34% in standby in 8 hours, not very good but in revenge, both my 2018 12,9 and Air 3 have excellent battery life in standby with a full 100% charge can remain at 100% for a good 12 hours.

WEBMay 1, 2023 · Although I suspect the Air 5 will be a one-off cheap device with such a high-end chip. If it wasn't for the A15 chip shortage affecting iPhone 13 deliveries, Apple might not have given it the M1. So in the future the cheaper Airs might revert to mid range chips. And I would never pay the insane price for an iPad Pro. The Air was $359 I think.

If that is important to her, I would wait for the official announcement and make a purchasing decision based on the price difference of the new 11' Pro compared to the 128GB Air (Keep in mind that the base M1 iPad Air will not support the new memory swap feature).

I am trying it with iPad Air M1 and ultrawide monitor Dell U4919DW (5120 x 1440 px) and the same black screen, but recognized (in settings I can also rearrange the monitors etc). If I change the monitor settings to PBP (so it works like two separate monitors next to each other) then the picture immediately appears.

That makes it a really compelling option versus the newest iPad Air, which they come about to the same price for me. My main worry is that the iPad Pro M1 is 3 years old now and it won't be supported for much longer (no more than 3 more years).
