Thank you for the interest in the 1880 Train. Our train does not have an open vestibule at the rear of the train. The closest approximation is choice of one of our open-air observation cars that are placed in service mid-June though to Labor Day in early September. These open-air observation cars feature a roof with no windows and wooden style seats. These cars make-up approximately 50% of the available seats in our summer-time line-up. The remainder of the seats in the summer and all of the seats in the spring and fall are in our nicely restored enclosed passenger cars which feature padded seats and windows which can be opened or closed by the passengers.

Hi! The shootout train is a round trip experience, correct? You do not get off in Keystone? Debating wether to do the shootout or regular train spending time in both towns! Thanks.
A:
Yes, the shootout is roundtrip. You have to load in Hill City. I have never done the shootout but I hear it's fun.

The 1880 Train is accessible to those in wheelchairs. We are able to accommodate 2 wheelchairs per departure. Wheelchair seating is Bluebird 1ABCD. The wheelchair person is seated in front of row 1 and guests will be seated directly behind them. We suggest families select either the AB or CD side, to leave room for another party who may need accessible seating on the opposite side. The Hill City Depot utilizes a lift to board the Blue Bird car. The Keystone Depot has a platform that is even with the cars so no lift is needed. Restrooms at both depots are handicapped accessible as well as the gift shops and snack bar located in Hill City.
