S&P 500 tops 44,000 and Dow rise above 6,000 for first time after Republicans win big in the election, Fed trims rates and consumer sentiment rises.

The S&P 500 and the Dow edged higher on Friday, putting them on course for their best week this year, as a sweeping Trump victory powered bets of a business-friendly agenda and an expected interest-rate cut eased pressure on the U.

Wall Street's major averages were little changed on Friday, as investors seemed to take a breather from the post election rally, while assessing the Federal Reserve's latest rate cut.  Early on and the S&P 500 (SP500) was +0.

The Dow ends flat but S&P 500 and Nasdaq add to their steep post-election gains after the Fed trims rates and hints at more though pace is uncertain.
