The Portuguese had plenty on his plate during his first few months as Reds head coach but still managed to steer the club to safety. Now in his first full season at the helm, his aim this term is to oversee a push up the Premier League table.

With Forest having upgraded the facilities at the Nigel Doughty Academy last season and over the summer, players are encouraged to socialise before and after training. The canteen area and player’s lounge are now of a Premier League standard. Those at the club are no longer nervous about potential new signings seeing the facilities.

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo credits former Reds manager Brian Clough for giving the club "the mentality of knowing that anything is possible in football". It has been 20 years since club legend Clough died at the age of 69 in 2004.
