Yumi Yang and Cory Barlog of God of War developer Santa Monica Studio are still attached to the TV show as executive producers, as are Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Yumi Land, and Roy Lee. Moving forward, Amazon and Sony reportedly plan to put together an entirely new group of writers for God of War and essentially start over from scratch.

Whatever happens next, the God of War series has plenty of material to mine from. First debuting on the PlayStation 2 in 2005, Kratos began his rampage through the pantheon of Greek gods, with his story eventually culminating in a brutal climb up Mount Olympus in 2010's God of War 3 – if you don't count the various spin-offs and prequels.

Amazon is reshuffling the deck with its God of War series. After the success of Fallout, it wants its next Prime Video gaming adaptation to live up to those lofty expectations — and it’s apparently willing to start fresh to do so.
