Verizon has acknowledged a widespread service outage affecting wireless customers Monday in several big markets. "We are aware of an issue impacting service for some customers," the telco said in a statement.

A Verizon cellular outage left at least some of the carrier’s customers without service Monday morning. The website Downdetector, which relies on user reports, showed a large spike in reported issues just before 7 a.m. Its map shows the issue is widespread, with reports of problems in cities across the country.
