The Microsoft Surface Duo 2 is nearing the end of its support lifecycle. Microsoft is releasing a final Android 12 update for the device, which marks the end of software updates for the dual-screen smartphone.

Microsoft said in October 2021 that it would keep the Duo 2 around for a minimum of three years—and now that it's fulfilled that promise, it's dipping out of the smartphone game once again.

As highlighted by WindowsCentral, after just one OS update, the Surface Duo 2 is soon losing software support. Microsoft's surface lifecycle page suggests that the last planned security update for the Surface Duo 2 is October 21, 2024, with a 54MB security update rolling out now.
