The Columbus Blue Jackets named franchise icon Rick Nash as their president of hockey operations on Friday. The No. 1 overall pick at the 2002 NHL Draft by the Blue Jackets, he played with the club from 2002-12 and is the franchise leader in goals (289),

Rick Nash served the Rangers well when he wore the Blue Shirt. He also was – and is – "an extremely bright guy." Which is why Blue Jackets new boss Don Waddell used those words when he hit Rick with a new title: Director of Hockey Operations in Columbus.

CBJ President and General Manager Don Waddell said Nash is an intelligent person who plays an important role in the club.
