Softener has black particles and water oily in salt tank

I deinstalled the salt container, found a lot of dirty stuff including the black particles inside the white cylinder...totally cleaned everywhere of the salt container, added new salt and did the regeneration 3 times, now everything looks ok inside the salt container, will continue to watch...

Nov 28, 2012 · Drain your water heater to clear out black particles and hard water deposits. (Watch You Tube videos if you need to know how.) Put in new heavy duty corrugated stainless hoses. Unscrew aerators from your faucets and clear out black particles there and your troubles will be over. I had black speck in my water and it took me years to figure out why.
Black slimy mold / gunk in faucets / aerators
Jun 12, 2017 · In all of my faucets, there's a black slimy material that accumulates in/near the aerators. It eventually impacts the water stream and I have to move my fingers under the faucet to remove the slimy gunk. I assume it's due to manganese or bacteria. I'm on city water so I would've thought the added chlorine would kill it.

Lasted for about 30 seconds or so and spurted about every 3 or 4 seconds. 14 yr old house 4 yr old GE 12yr heater from HD Mixet valve In regards to the black stuff, it appeared to be water soluble as it appeared to dilute in the water and quickly disappeared.

We have had the drain snaked professionally and then had to call him back about a month later bc it was happening again. He said it was prob some rubber ring deteriorating and replaced it.

Jul 27, 2017 · Look at the aerator screens on the lavatory faucet and the kitchen faucet. Any black gunk there? Try flushing your WH. Flushing can be done different ways. The simplest is to 1. Turn off the water, and put the WH in vacation mode, if it has one. Otherwise off. 2. Open a hot water tap to pass air. 3. Drain the WH completely.

Sep 11, 2007 · When I retrieved the snake, there was some hair on it and a whole lot of black sludge . I reconnected my trap and figured all I had to do was flush the line with hot water. As soon as the water went down the drain, jet-black-smelly-sludge came up the drain and now the sink will not drain at all.

I installed a shower head water filter, but the black sooty stuff has returned. I installed a new shower head, but I know the black sooty stuff will return. A friend told me the anode rod in my water heater probably needs to be replaced.
