MS 365/Office 2021 new installs not installing Outlook desktop app
WEBFeb 20, 2024 · I discovered that OUTLOOK.EXE is found in the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\OUTLOOK.EXE". I can run Outlook from double-clicking on OUTLOOK.EXE. However, if I search and run Outlook, it run the new Outlook (web version). I cannot set Outlook desktop version to default any longer.

WEBDec 3, 2022 · Try looking at the upper right of the new version and see if it says "Try the new Outlook", if it does make sure that it is turned OFF. I did this and it then gave me the old interface which allowed me to have non-Outlook accounts etc. Hopefully this will work for all struggling with the new version which simply no longer allows much to work.
